Whats love got to do with it?

Whats love but a second hand emotion? Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?

Have you ever noticed that the things that the most people fight for (except oil), drive the most people crazy, and make the most people jealous are the things we cannot touch, see, or feel? One can argue that we can feel love-that's the only way to experience it. But what exactly do we mean when we say "love?" There are too many types of love to just say it and expect understanding. So why is love so complex? That's about as good as asking what's the meaning of life. I can say this though, love can be simple, but nobody settles for simple love. Simple love is for simple people. None of the characters in Song of Solomon were in any way simple, so of course they craved a complex love.

So we've got unrequited love, possessive love, familiar love, brotherly love, but never just love. So if there is no love how can their be so many types? Crazy. Actually love is sort of like God. Some people say He's there, some people say He's not. But everyone can agree that people do good things, kind things, crazy things, and cruel things in His name. My strongest point is that He gives hope, and as long as there's hope the world just isn't such a bad place. Love is like that. As long people know it's there, they have hope that one day someone will love them and be loved in return.

Have I ever been in love? No, or at least not that I know of, but I don't doubt for a second that it exists. Or maybe I do. Just like people sometimes question their faith. What else makes love complex? Probably the potential love has for both pain and pleasure. So you have a 50 50 chance you'll have a heartbreak, which doesn't sound good to me. Then again, most people just jump right in it, or rather are sucked in or suckered in. Either way, you never know exactly what you're getting yourself into. In the novel, Milkman never loved, so he was never hurt. Pilate loved and prospered. Hagar loved and perished. So what makes love so complex? Well, flip a coin and find out!
Tina sure as hell felt the "pains" of love!
